featured item from THE LIST, Saturday, April 22: Rick Briggs at Ortega y Gasset

Taking its name from the great Spanish philosopher, essayist and liberal, Ortega y Gasset is an exhibition space in Gowanus, Brooklyn run by a collective of ten artists based in five different states. Inveterately experimental in outlook and non-commercial in attitude, this curatorial enterprise epitomizes old school idealism in the nurture and recognition of talent. This enigmatically titled exhibition, “(l) pine” is a survey of 20 years work by Rick Briggs in whose efforts the curatorial collective discerns “the pursuit of freedom and the desire for mystery.”
