Stanley Whitney: Artist Talk at SVA
Painter Stanley Whitney will give a a free lecture on his art and life at the School of Visual Arts on Tuesday, September 17 at 6 PM in room 101C. Whitney is known for his large, joy-inducing abstract paintings made from squares and stripes of vibrant color. His work has recently been seen in Reinventing Abstraction: New York Painting in the 1980s at Cheim & Read, and in his Spring 2013 solo exhibition at Team Gallery, Other Colors I Forget. Whitney is a professor emeritus at Temple and Tyler School of Art; he divides his time between New York City and Parma, Italy.
Stanley Whitney’s talk will be presented by the BFA Visual & Critical Studies Department at SVA.
